Preparing EA Football Players and Pro-Sim Drivers for the Women’s Esports Finals

2 September 2024

This is an event Ground+Air ran as part of a programme aimed at elite and emerging women gamers, alongside Sky Broadband in its drive to promote equality in gaming.

Almost half of young gamers are women, but only 5% make it as Esports pros.

Delivering a coaching and facilitation session with both the women’s sim drivers and women’s football competitive gamers ahead of the event, Ground+Air helped them prepare for the pressure of competing on a live stage.

Ground+Air brought together a performance coach and a chartered psychologist to share tips and tactics to help competitors to maintain their focus in high-stakes competitive situations – specifically, at live events.

We described some optimal and peak performance principles from the our Flow Performance Frameworks, and shared techniques to help the participants regulate their nervous systems to help them perform under pressure.

International yoga teacher, Tania Brown shared some breathing techniques to help competitors regulate their states pre-event and in-game.

Our coachees subsequently took several podiums at the Finals – one winning the Sim driving competition.
